Functions and Tasks of the University Council:
- Designing the methodological, educational and pedagogical foundations in a way that makes academic and educational activities consistent and equivalent with the provisions of the constitution and the law.
- Trying to raise the level of education and scientific research to meet the needs of development and the various needs of the society in light of the general policy of its educational institution.
- Coordinating between the scientific, educational and social activities of the faculties and units affiliated with the university, and strengthening the relationship between the university with its various counterparts.
- Approving the appointment of faculty members or accepting their resignations and submitting that to the Board of Trustees to take what it deems appropriate.
- Approving the award of an honorary doctorate degree (for the university only) based on a proposal from the university president.
- Deciding on granting faculty members to continue with their research and unpaid leave, accepting their resignations and terminating their services.
- Suggesting the admission program, the number of students accepted annually, the various curricula and specializations at the university, along with the acceptance rates, and submitting all that to the Supreme Council for approval.
- Suggesting the amount of fees that the university receives from students and submitting it to the Board of Trustees for approval.
- Approving the terms and conditions for donations, gifts, grants, wills and endowments that are presented to the university, in a way that does not conflict with the constitution and the provisions of laws.
- Discussing the university’s draft budget and final accounts and submitting them to the Board of Trustees for approval.
- Discussing the annual report of the university's activities and achievements and submitting it to the Board of Trustees and then to the Supreme Council.
- Considering any topics related to academic affairs.
